This talented stallion is a direct son of top mare Cella, who was among world’s best with Ben Maher. This makes Chicago Blue VDL's granddam the legendary Usha van 't Roosakker - one of the most successful broodmares of the past decades.
Chicago Blue VDL is thus a son of Chacco Blue, number one in the WBFSH Sire Ranking for many years. In addition to his own sport career at the highest level, Chacco Blue produced an almost endless list of 1.60m showjumpers; the most famous is without a doubt reigning Olympic champion Explosion W ridden by Ben Maher. Further top horses include Miss Blue Mystic Rose (Yuri Mansur), Up Too Jacco Blue (Max Kühner), Chalou (Emanuele Gaudiano), Chaqui Z (Shane Sweetnam), Blue Movie (Rowan Willis) and Aralyn Blue (Harry Charles).
Dam Cella makes Chicago Blue VDL's pedigree truly unique. She jumped with Ben Maher at the very highest level and rose to great heights especially at the European Championships in Herning in 2013. There, Cella won both the gold team medal with the British team and the silver individual medal. Furthermore, the impressive grey mare won the Wellington World Cup and Grand Prix, the London Global Champions Tour and the Dublin Nations Cup. She also came second in the prestigious Hamburg Grand Prix and third in the Dublin Grand Prix. In addition, Cella is already extremely successful in breeding; for example, she produced Grand Prix showjumping horses Fabio van 't Roosakker, Happy Wandor van 't Roosakker and Handor van 't Roosakker. In her turn, granddam Usha van 't Roosakker is one of the best broodmares of her generation and stood at the base of top showjumping horses such as Equador van 't Roosakker, Emporio van 't Roosakker, Babbe van 't Roosakker, Erco van 't Roosakker, Electra van 't Roosakker and many more.
At the Holstein stallion show, Chicago Blue VDL stood out for his great balance in canter, overview at the jump and light-footedness. He seems to have a lot of scope and a lot of quality. Under saddle, Chicago Blue VDL is also striking for his rideability, attitude and ability to carry himself.
