The Holsteiner stallion Cardento has everything: a top pedigree, the capacity to jump at Olympic level and the ability to pass his talent on to his offspring. Besides this he has a golden character.
Cardento has proven himself at the highest level winning a Silver medal at the World- and European Championship and the Olympics of Athens. He won the Nations Cup of Rome, Dramman and Ikast. Individually he won, among others, the Grand Prixs of Holte, Helsingborg, Angelholm, Gera, Kungsbacke (2x) and placed 2nd in Aarhus. Cardento placed 6th in the Worldcup Qualifier of Göteborg, placed 4th in the German Classics in Hannover and 6th in the Grand Prix of Stockholm.
His breeding successes are world class. H&M Cue Channa and Bardoloni jumped at the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and Matrix at the Olympics in London.
In 2014 six offspring jumped at the World Equestrian Games in Normandy: Matrix, Celestine, Carisma, Duke of Carnaval, Cafino and Zilverstar VDL.
Last year, more than 25 of Cardento’s offspring jumped at 1.60m level and there were additional striking results by his younger offspring. Cue Channa and Zacramento won the Silver medal at the European Jumping Championships in Gothenurg with the Swedish team. Carat had 5 international wins, one of these was the GP of Oliva. H&M Flip’s Little Sparrow won the GP Ciekocinko, Carrera won the GP Vestvold, Ares won the GP Valle de Bravo in Mexico and Candlelight K won the GP Lier. Dento won the Young Riders Championship of Lissabon and GDE Matrix won the Junior GP Opglabbeek. Didam 2 won the GP’s of Drachten and Neumünster. Besides these, the following offspring plaved easily in the big rings, too: Ayma de la Demi Lune, Bardesther, Bartender, Beezie, Check Picobello Z, Calingka, Cassius vd Smis, Carippu, Caveman DH Z, Corporal VDL, Cyklon, Dolinn, Dubai, Isabeau de Laubry, Isidor Carcaletto, Jativia, Quarto Mail, Samson II, Traffic Boy, Thriller P, Vatson Sitte, Wieminka B etc.
The Swedish Championships for Young Jumping Horses have been dominated for years by Cardento offspring. Worldwide have been several Champions: Carisma - European Champion of the Juniors, Cisco - Open Scandinavian Championship for 7-year old jumpers, Classic Lady - 7-year old World Champion in Lanaken etc.
Cardento has several approved sons: VDL Corporal, Carrera VDL, Dakar VDL and Grand Slam VDL, the latter scoring 90 points in the KWPN Stallion Perfomance Test - the highest score ever.
Based on the achievements of his offspring, Cardento was awarded ‘Elite’, received the ‘Breeders Trophy’ five times, and was honored four times as ‘Horse of the Year’ in Sweden.
Farrel VDL was the topseller of the WEF Sporthorse Auction, bringing $600.000. With Daniel Coyle he became reserve champion of the 7-year olds series in Canada. Fantasy BB brought €380.000 - the top seller at the Jumper Talent Sale and Fame DVL brought €380.000 the top seller of the Dutch Sport Horse Sales 2015
