We visited with the Gerard Vervoorn, Ixia's breeder!
Mr. Gerard Vervoorn, Brakel. Mr. Vervoorn is a "poor schoolteacher" and breeder. He was ranked #14 in the WBFSH ranking of top dressage breeders. Breeder of Windsor (Roemer x Lies x Eros), a Grand Prix dressage horse. Breeder of Chantor du Bonce (Roemer x Theeroos x Fresco), a Grand Prix dressage horse ridden by the American Barbara Silverman. Breeder of Kroonjuweel (Belisar x Charites x Roemer), an approved KWPN stallion. Breeder if Ixia (Belisar x Charites x Roemer), a keur mare now in the United States and owned by Barb Funk.

Gerard Vervoon was a super host for the day. He escorted us to van der Koppel and van Balens. Thanks Gerard your a great educator for us! Keep breeding those fantastic horses! |

Visit with Team Nijhof
Team Nijhof, Geesteren. Team Nijhof is a family business that has started many years ago with grandfather Jan Nijhof. His son Henk Nijhof, together with his wife Aleid Nijhof, extended the horse business when Henk discovered world famous stallions like Roemer, Voltaire, Burggraaf, Calvados, Heart-breaker etc. at an early age. Now their Children Henk and Jeannette continue the horse business together with the family. The next generation of Nijhof's was born this past December when Jeannette gave birth to a baby girl, named Camilla. Team Nijhof has become a well known stud within Europe. Team Nijhof stands 27 stallions. Team Nijhof is the owner of the keur stallion Zeoliet who is standing in the US now at Shooting Star Farm in New Hampshire. Team Nijhof ships semen around the world, leases stallions and sells many horses.
We also visited Team Nijhof. Had a super dinner at Henk Nijhof's new wife's restaurant. I guess it is his restaurant now too. Definately a super place to eat! We toured the stallion stables at Nijhof and saw a lot of super foals. Pictures did not come out so well as we got there very late and it was dark. Sorry. :-( We also enjoyed seeing Jeanette's new baby girl.
